Tensions escalate during protest as police move to disperse demonstrators on National Highway 44

Ambala, Haryana: A clash broke out between Nihang Sikhs and Ambala Police during a protest on National Highway 44, as tensions escalated late in the evening.
The protesters had been holding a demonstration on the highway since the afternoon over demands including registration of an FIR against the national president of the International Anti-Khalistan Front and information regarding Sikh youths who were allegedly detained.
According to the information available, police had agreed to the protesters' stated demands and asked them to clear the highway. However, the protesters continued their sit-in.
The situation reportedly intensified after darkness fell, with police alleging that their personnel came under attack. Police subsequently used force to disperse the protesters and restore movement on the highway.
The incident resulted in a confrontation between the Nihang protesters and police personnel, with further details regarding injuries, arrests and damage yet to be confirmed.
Authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the clash and take further action based on the investigation.
