Pakistan-based news outlet faces access restrictions on its X account in two countries

The X account of Pakistan-based news outlet Asia One News has reportedly been withheld in Türkiye, adding to restrictions already imposed on the outlet’s social media presence in India.
The development means users in Türkiye may no longer be able to access the account normally on X. The exact reason for the latest restriction has not been publicly established from the sources reviewed.
Asia One is a relatively new Pakistani English-language news outlet. It launched in 2025 and has positioned itself as an international news platform covering Pakistan, South Asia and global affairs.
India had earlier restricted access to Asia One’s social-media accounts. Reports from January 2026 said the Indian government blocked the outlet’s social-media handles, with authorities citing concerns over allegedly misleading or anti-India content.

The restrictions have placed renewed attention on the increasingly complicated relationship between governments, social-media platforms and news organisations operating across borders.
For Asia One, the reported withholding in Türkiye comes after the outlet had already faced restrictions in India, potentially limiting its ability to reach audiences in two important regional markets.
At present, it remains unclear whether the Türkiye restriction is temporary or permanent, and whether it applies only to the X account or extends to other Asia One platforms.
