The Prime Minister inspected the combined Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard before ascending the ramparts to lead the 80th Independence Day celebrations.
NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived at the iconic Red Fort to lead India’s 80th Independence Day celebrations.
He was received by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, and Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh formally introduced the General Officer Commanding (GoC), Delhi Area, Lieutenant General Rajesh Sethi, to the Prime Minister.
The GoC, Delhi Area, conducted PM Modi to the Saluting Base, where the ceremonial Inter-Services and Delhi Police Guard presented a general salute.
The Prime Minister then inspected the Guard of Honour, which comprised representatives from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, and Delhi Police.
Following the inspection, PM Modi proceeded toward the ramparts of the Red Fort to unfurl the Tricolour, accompanied by a 21-gun salute, ahead of delivering his address to the nation.
