Officials discuss strengthening bilateral
cooperation in space exploration, science, technology and future joint
initiatives

India hosted the 9th meeting of the India-U.S. Civil Space Joint Working
Group (CSJWG) on August 5-6, 2026, at the headquarters of the Indian Space
Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru, according to the U.S. Embassy in
India.
The meeting brought together senior officials from India and the United
States to review and advance cooperation in the civil space sector.
Dr. V. Narayanan, Chairman of ISRO and Secretary of the Department of
Space, and Sergio Gor, the U.S. Ambassador to India, addressed the opening
segment. Both highlighted the importance of further strengthening bilateral
cooperation in space.
The meeting was co-chaired on the Indian side by M. Sankaran, Director of
ISRO’s UR Rao Satellite Centre, and on the U.S. side by Dr. Wesley Brooks,
Assistant Secretary of State for Oceans and International Environmental and
Scientific Affairs, and Kathleen Karika, NASA Associate Administrator for
International and Interagency Relations.
The discussions reflect the expanding strategic partnership between India
and the United States in civil space activities, with both countries continuing
to deepen cooperation across scientific and technological fields.
The latest CSJWG meeting further underlines the role of space cooperation
in the broader India-U.S. partnership.
